surprise!

Snap. Snarl. CLAWS!!

Oh yes, Jay was awake. Wide, wide awake. And more than that...he was ready to go. All he needed was to get dressed, and there would be nothing stopping him from going on that trip to Morii Vale that Izumi had been pestering him about for weeks now. Actually, if he needed to, he could skip the actual getting dressed part, and just magic on the clothing, since it seemed to be something of a hurry.

He just wished he knew why he needed to be sore upon waking, and not the good kind of sore that he had become quite used to over the years. Well, it was really more than sore this time. This time he hurt, actively. He could feel about eight separate lines of fiery pain in sets of four on his left arm and his cheek, and he had the sinking feeling that when he finally opened his eyes and looked, he would find that they were eight matching scratches just starting to bleed. Rather, he knew that that was what he would see when he opened his eyes. And, he would find blood underneath Izumi's nails when he finally found him... After all, he knew what Izumi's claws felt like.

Actually, rather than just wishing to know why he needed to be sore, he also wished that he understood why Izumi had chosen to wake him with claws, and almost with teeth, instead of his normal act of dumping Jay out of the bed and onto the floor. That, at least, didn't involve blood. So, with that in mind, Jay sent a bit of thought to the eight fiery lines on his body, to make them close up and stop bleeding, and then he opened his eyes and rose from the bed. Moments later, he was clothed and on his way out of the bedroom to find Izumi.

Aforementioned kitsune was sulking in the kitchen. He turned his head up to glare at Jay as the other entered the room, and then went back to staring at the table top, where he was idly tracing nearly unidentifiable kanji in the water that had dripped down from the sides of his glass of juice. Jay recognized the characters of "Morii" just moments before Izumi noticed him watching and smudged the lines of water back into a formless blob, but that didn't help him any with figuring out what was going on.

"Morning!" Jay said, forcing out a cheerfulness that didn't match the lingering soreness where there had just a little bit earlier been eight scratches caused by the person sitting at the table in front of him.

Izumi growled something under his breath that Jay couldn't quite make out. Then he reached for the glass of juice and took a rather large swallow of the translucent dark yellow liquid. Meanwhile, Jay sent his magic to go fetch him a mug, some coffee, and a bowl of cereal, as he took a seat across the table from Izumi.

"Is something wrong?" Jay asked, which earned him a rather nasty, but oddly surprised, look from the kitsune across the table from him. Jay leaned back in his seat, and raised his hands in a gesture of harmlessness and surrender. "Did I do something?"

"..." Izumi "said," placing the glass back on the table. Then he proceeded to stare at Jay, not saying a word.

"Is this a kitsune thing?" Jay asked. "Or did I really do something wrong? Because I really don't know why you're being so pissy this morning..."

"Of course it's a "kitsune thing,"" Izumi muttered in Japanese, which told Jay that it was more than just a bad mood...they usually spoke in English.

"Did I do something wrong?" Jay asked, again. The room stayed silent for a good three minutes, which just made Jay uncomfortable, but not willing to speak again, for fear of another taste of his lover's claws.

"...I wonder whether kitsune blood is stronger than genie blood..." Izumi said suddenly. His words were directed at some spot between himself and Jay, and not particularly at the other man...but since Jay was almost certain that he was the only other person in the room, he assumed that the comment was meant for him. Izumi just didn't do the whole talking to oneself thing like many people did.

And then, after a good ten second pause, the actual words that had come out of Izumi's mouth registered on his brain. "W-what!?" he squeaked.

Izumi flashed a grin, not a particularly kind or playful one, but rather one that fit the mood he had demonstrated when he woke Jay. Then, he rose from his seat in one graceful motion and moved over to Jay's side. He leaned down until his mouth was just barely avoiding touching Jay's ear, so that Jay could feel the warm, moist air as Izumi took a few deep breaths in and out before speaking.

"Never thought you'd be a daddy, did you?" Izumi asked. Then, before Jay could even make himself move enough to stare at the kitsune with his own incredulous look of disbelief on his face, Izumi went running out of the room to leave him to try and figure out just what the hell was going on.
