- Devin works as a game programmer from his and Himitsu's apartment. He tends to get his work done quite early, though he doesn't send it in right away so he can finagle some more free time, though he gets very bored during the day.
Devin is a comp sci. He is not quite a typical comp sci (not including all of the weird stuff about him ^_^), because he's not quite nocturnal. He likes the dark, but he also likes keeping a normal, fairly diurnal schedule. And no, he does not wear all black and drink Mountain Dew all the time, though he is quite fond of his caffeine and his trench coat is black.
Devin was a fairly normal introverted young man for most of his life, until Himitsu showed up. Then he became a fairly normal introverted gay young man who occasionally had a boyfriend. It wasn't until his senior year of college that things really got weird.
Then, during his senior years, right before first semester finals, the chain of disasters happened. He had his own apartment, and a fairly serious boyfriend at the time. Then a good friend of his got hit by a car and hospitalized right in front of his eyes. The next day he got word that his father had kicked his mother out of the house for cheating on him with a boy younger than Devin. Then his father shot his mother, got drunk, and got himself killed in a car wreck. Then his mother showed up at his apartment, and he found out that his boyfriend was the boy his age who was having an affair with his mother. Needless to say, he didn't pass any finals that semester, and he would have killed himself had Himitsu not come back into his life just then.
That was what made Devin into a fairly normal introverted gay young man who just happened to be dating a man who claimed he was a dragon sent to watch over him like a guardian angel. Devin didn't really believe him, though he humored his lover. Then he got killed in a nasty car wreck on his way to get picked up for what Himitsu claimed was his 500th birthday party.
Next thing he knew, he was waking up in the dragon palace, now with green hair and white fox ears and tail, not to mention the ability to use wind magic. And well, life hasn't been too bad for him since then, once Himitsu stole him away from the dragon king who made Devin into his bed slave. The sex was good, but the dragon king was not a very nice old dragon.
Devin, unlike Himitsu, cannot assume a human form. He has since learned to turn into a full fox (white, to match the ears and tail), but that is just part of being a fox spirit. He has rather good control over his wind based magic, and he gets along pretty well with the wind elementals, especially the ten or so who have decided to stick around him and help when he needs it. Still, he is rather far away from the normal introverted young man that he once was, though he is still a comp sci.
He tends to get victimized a lot. It isn't because he's weak, because he isn't. The problem is that the people who victimize him (he's been raped several times, by at least two different people) are stronger than he is. Being a fox spirit doesn't help. The fox spirits are in general one of the more sensual and beautiful races in the "true realm," and the majority of them are used as bed slaves. It also doesn't help that he is quite attractive.
He absolutely hates being the constant victim, which is what drives him to become better with his magic. Unfortunately for him, he hates seeing other people be the victim even more, which sometimes causes him to let himself be victimized to save someone else. This is why he will do things such as give himself up to Nakago to be taken to Seiryuu, just to keep Ryuuen safe.
Because of his inability to take a fully human form, Devin is forced to disguise himself when he leaves the apartment that he and Himitsu live in. He wears a black trench coat and a black hat to hide his ears and tail, though it gets unbearably hot in the summertime. He hates it, but sometimes he just needs to get out and about, and so he is willing to bake a little just to get away from the apartment.
He is quite intelligent, though almost all of his smarts are directed towards computers and math. He has learned to be more observant since his change, because he is usually quite alone when out in public, just because of his disguise. His many troubles in life have matured him, though he was quite immature before that happened.
